Assistant Food & Beverage Manager Jeffrey Sykes Travels to South American Wine Country

Recently TGIC Importers sponsored an educational tour of South American wine country. Jeffrey Sykes, Assistant Manager of Food & Beverage, was selected from a pool of competitive wine professionals to experience, “The Best of Both Sides of the Andes." The winery visits in both Argentina and Chile afforded him a firm understanding of fine wines produced from a perfect combination of the exceptional conditions given in each area of viticulture, along with the work of talented professionals. The wineries remained faithful to their
principles: Tradition, Authenticity and Innovation.

The group voyage began in Buenos Aires where they dived into the culture with a tango dancing evening and delicious Argentinean meats. From there the group flew to Mendoza, Argentina’s biggest and most important wine region, which included Lujan de Cuyo, Perdriel and Barrancas. The Chilean wine regions awaited the group on the other side of the Andes. The exploration began in Isla de Maipo and continued to Leyda Valley and Colchagua Valley and concluded with the district of Casablanca. The last leg of this most engaging wine culture and food experience concluded in Santiago, Chile.

Sykes learned much from his trip to South America and hopes to bring his knowledge back to Graylyn where he can continue to work toward keeping some of the best wines stocked at all times while providing that knowledge to Graylyn's guests.

Graylyn Named In "The Elite 50" By ConventionSouth Magazine

Graylyn International Conference Center has been selected as one of “The Elite 50 Conference Centers in the South” by the editors of ConventionSouth magazine.  Out of hundreds of conference centers in the South and Caribbean, only 50 were selected for being among the “coolest” and “most meetings friendly.

ConventionSouth magazine, a national multimedia resource for planning events that are held within the South and Caribbean Seas region, extensively researched to find the top 50 conference centers in the South. Conference facilities were assessed based on various factors such as meetings technology and amenities; facility aesthetics, décor and appearance; and meeting planner reviews and recommendations. From there, editors asked a list of 80 to fill out a detailed qualification form, noting their offerings and best attributes such as videoconferencing capabilities, ergonomic seating, catering, recreation options and outdoor gathering areas. After a careful review of the forms, editors hand-selected 50 elite conference centers to place on the list be featured in its June issue.

Graylyn and the 49 other elite meeting and event sites will be featured in the June issue of ConventionSouth. A full list of “The Elite 50 Conference Centers in the South” can be found at: and on Pinterest at

Graylyn Gets Medieval In a Lowes Hardware Commercial Shoot

Have you ever daydreamt about being the King of your lawn? That your yard is a beast only to be tamed by a true gladiator with the appropriate tools? Don't feel bad, we've all had the same daydream.

Lowes Hardware knows what it's like to fall victim to that typical daydream, which is why they set the stage at Graylyn for their recent Kobalt power tools commercial.

After several days of shooting, a few truck loads of props, and a one tired gladiator (Graylyn has a pretty grand lawn to conquer!) Lowes wrapped production and released a comical commercial featuring an utmost medieval Graylyn.

Have and look and enjoy!
