Congratulations Class of 2014: Now Show The World What You Are Made Of!

Today marks the end of a chapter and a new life beginning for the Wake Forest University Class of 2014. As more than 1,000 students sat in the quad on this chilly May morning decked out in their black caps and gowns I'm sure there were thoughts of "where am I going from here?"

But this morning's commencement address speaker and former New York Times Executive Editor Jill Abramson was able to put herself in their shoes. Abramson was recently fired from the one of nation's most revered news publications, the New York Times, and while she said the uncertainty of ending a chapter is scary, the thought of opening a new one is "kind of exciting."

"What's next for me?  I don't know. So I'm in exactly the same boat as many of you," Abramson told Wake Forest University's Class of 2014.

While Abramson said that losing a job that you love hurts, her passion of the industry is enough to propel her forward.

Abramson's takeaway for the graduates: go onto the next chapter with resilience; take risks, find the job you love, and show the world what you are made of.

Congratulations Class of 2014, you have set sail for an amazing new journey!
